CCCEU Welcomes China-EU constructive talks on EV Tariffs
September 19, 2024, Brussels
The China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) welcomes the comprehensive and constructive consultations held on September 19 in Brussels between China's Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, and the European Commission's Executive Vice President and Trade Commissioner, Valdis Dombrovskis, regarding the EU's anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).
The two sides reached a consensus on advancing negotiations concerning price undertakings and reaffirmed their commitment to achieving a mutually acceptable resolution through constructive dialogue. The CCCEU views this progress as a significant step toward addressing concerns widely shared by the business community and as a positive signal long anticipated by companies across the EV supply chain in both regions.
At the "China-Europe EV Industrial Chain Enterprises Roundtable" held in Brussels on September 18, Chinese and European enterprises strongly advocated for the proper management of trade friction, a commitment to openness and cooperation, and resistance to trade protectionism. Both Chinese and European carmakers expressed a robust willingness to collaborate, highlighting their readiness to contribute to the stability of China-EU economic and trade relations.
The CCCEU looks forward to China and the EU continuing to heed the genuine concerns of companies in the EV supply chain. The industry is eager for the creation of a healthy and fair market development environment and stands ready to fully support China and the EU in achieving a mutually acceptable solution through dialogue and consultation.
