CCCEU Chairman Xu Chen led the team to bid farewell to Ambassador Fu Cong

On the evening of March 27, 2024, Xu Chen, the Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) and Chairman of Bank of China (Europe) S.A., led representatives of member units of the Chamber to attend the farewell reception for Ambassador Fu Cong, Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, and his wife Huang Jun. On behalf of Chinese enterprises in Europe, they expressed their highest respect and sincere gratitude to Ambassador Fu for promoting China-EU business and trade dialogue and cooperation.

In his speech, Ambassador Fu Cong reviewed his work experience in the EU, expressing gratitude for the support extended to him and the Chinese Mission to the EU. He recalled President Xi Jinping's words from ten years ago, during his visit to Europe, about China's desire to build a bridge of friendship and cooperation with Europe across the Eurasian continent. Under this guidance, both sides have forged bridges of understanding, mutual trust, cooperative win-win, and communication. With the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations approaching next year, Fu emphasized the importance of nurturing and developing the positive momentum of China-EU relations, highlighting the need for more "bridge-builders." He expressed China's willingness to work with Europe to build more bridges of friendship and cooperation, aiming to take the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Europe to a brighter future.

Ambassador Fu also stated his ongoing commitment to support China-EU relations, regardless of his future posting, and expressed his sincere hopes for the flourishing of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Europe and for the enduring friendship between their peoples.

Representatives from various sectors within the CCCEU, including the Vice Chairing Members Lenovo Holdings Co., Ltd., Council members such as COSCO Shipping Piraeus Port Authority S.A., Sungrow Power Supply, NIO Europe, and the CCCEU’s Digital Economy Working Group, Green Economy Working Group, and Finance Working Group, as well as the Chamber's Secretariat, each expressed their gratitude to Ambassador Fu Cong and bid him farewell.

According to the mission, the event saw participation from nearly 400 individuals across various sectors, including the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the European Parliament, diplomatic missions to the EU, and representatives from the political, business, academic, and media communities.
