On January 16, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Global Call 2022 Award Ceremony closed in Shanghai, during which the project "Electric Container Vessel, Box Power and Port Charging and Switching Network" of COSCO SHIPPING Development was announced as the winner of the Green Growth Award. More than 1,400 enterprises from over 150 countries around the world were invited to participate in this program, and seven awards were finally announced in four different categories.

COSCO SHIPPING Development promotes the development and use of the electric vessel industry in China by investing in the construction of an inland waterway and coastal charging and switching network and a demonstration vessel – a 700TEU pure battery-powered zero-carbon emission container ship. According to the needs of navigation, a certain number of box power sources will be placed onboard to realize pure electric navigation through power switch. The box power for ships is jointly developed by enterprises leading the project and has been certified by China Classification Society.

According to the UNIDO Global Call 2022, COSCO SHIPPING Development has been fulfilling its social responsibility through this project, helping advance the green transformation of the shipping industry. In the future, the company will continue to work together with its industrial chain partners to deepen the integration of industry and finance and make new breakthroughs on the road of sustainable development.
