BEIJING -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday that the EU-China investment agreement is mutually beneficial and win-win for both the European Union (EU) and China, hoping it can be smoothly ratified and take effect as soon as possible.

Merkel made the remarks in a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
