CCCEU holds online workshop on China-EU investment agreement

The China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) on 13th January held a workshop via video conference on the China-EU investment agreement, following Beijing and Brussels concluded their 7-year-long negotiations on the accord at the end of last year.

Anastasios Tomtsis, Partner at Clifford Chance, was invited to brief the participants on the nature and key elements of the agreement, its impact on Chinese investors, as well as the relevant following legislative procedures in the EU.

During the Q&A session, Anastasios Tomtsis and the audience had an in-depth discussion on a series of issues of concern to Chinese enterprises in the EU, including the relations between the China-EU investment agreement and the ongoing EU’s foreign investment screening measures, as well as investment barriers in EU’s “critical” assets and technologies.

Concerning the China-EU investment agreement, the CCCEU has maintained exchanges and contacts with relevant authorities of the European Commission, collected advice and suggestions from Chinese enterprises in the EU. The Chamber will continue to serve its members and listen to their opinions and concerns in this regard.

Some 200 representatives from CCCEU members companies, member associations and their member enterprises attended the workshop.
