North China Power Engineering Co., Ltd. of China Power Engineering Consulting Group, China Railway Group Limited, Xinhuanet Europe B.V., Co-progress Education Investment Company and Southern Media Europe S.A. joined the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU on January 15, 2020.

Their membership was approved at this year's first board meeting of the chamber. The chairperson of the Brussels-based CCCEU Zhou Lihong has sent a congratulatory note to the Chinese businesses, which have actively invested in Europe.

"I am congratulating the five enterprises for obtaining membership, which helps them play a vital role in deepening Sino-EU economic ties," said Zhou.

"I also feel encouraged that more and more Chinese enterprises in Europe have joined us to jointly build this non-profit platform, which will be a gateway of opportunities for both Chinese and European businesses."

At the end of 2019, Legend Holdings Corporation and BYD Europe B.V. joined the chamber, which aims to become an active bridge-builder that mainly helps Chinese enterprises in Europe chart the way for increased China-EU economic interaction.

Founded by Bank of China (Luxembourg) S.A., China Three Gorges (Europe) S.A. and COSCO Europe GmbH in August 2018, the CCCEU now represents up to 60 members and chambers in member states, covering about 1,000 Chinese enterprises in the EU.
